When creating images for your website, adverts, social media or print – it’s important to have crisp, clear and clean looking images. While expensive cameras can help, image editing can enhance the qulity and colour of your images to a professional standard. This is where free services such as Photopea, Canva and PicsArt can help.
Photopea
This is the best alternative to Photoshop. It is ideal for editing photos and creating marketing materials. It is also completely free to use and is cross-compatible with Adobe. This means that if you have a designer create an image for you in Adobe Photoshop, you can still open, edit, and adjust it to meet your changing marketing needs.
Canva
This is perfect for creating quick, easy, and eye-catching social media posts. It is also free to use with over 250,000 free templates. You can also create GIFs, animations and videos that are great for increasing engagement.
Canva has a Pro version also which starts at £99.99 a year, which has twice as many templates, 75+ million stock photos, 100 GB of cloud storage and the ability to schedule social media content to 7 platforms.
We love this one for quick and easy design. You can create images that look like they’ve had a graphic designer's input, without having any previous experience.
PicsArt
This is designed for mobile and tablet only, which can be helpful if you’ve taken photos on your phone and don’t want to have to upload them to a laptop or PC. It’s great for quick editing on the go.
PicsArt does have a ‘pro’ option which is £5 a month (£59.99 annually) with the option of a free trial. This pro version includes 1k+ fonts, 1k+ templates, 50k+ high-res stock images and removes the Picsart watermark from your images. The free version is plenty, but you may want to upgrade if you’re getting lots of use out of it.
